Oppo R17 Pro is a high-mid range smartphone priced 69,990 Tk. in Bangladesh upon its release. After analyzing its specs, we concluded that the closest competitor of it in Bangladesh would be OnePlus 6T (62,990 Tk.) and Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S (58,490 Tk.). So, the pricing is quite a drawback of this device.
Oppo R17 Pro comes with 3700 mAh battery with impressive SuperVOOC Flash charge. It may charge 40% in just 10 minutes and 100% in just about 35 minutes. The battery shall last about a day with one full charge for through users. The display is a vivid Full HD+ one which is well-readable under the sunlight. Color contrast is pretty good too. Design wise, the 6.4” water drop notch design with 91.5% screen ratio, 6th gen. Gorilla Glass, 3D misted gradient glass back and aluminum frame leaves a stunning impression.
Snapdragon 710 chipset clearly puts this gadget behind OnePlus 6T and Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S’s superior Snapdragon 845 chipset. Adreno 616 GPU may provide strong support to graphically related apps though. There should not be any overheating issue as well and 8 GB RAM will smoothen multitasking experience. But performance wise, it is behind Xiaomi and OnePlus which is quite a disappointment because of its much higher price tag. Also, the in-display fingerprint is inaccurate from time to time and the battery performance is slightly lower considering it has a 3700 mAh display like the OnePlus 6T. So, the overall software quality is somewhat inferior as well.

The triple back camera performs reasonably well and consistent in the daylight. But sometimes a little too bright and noisy more like the exposure is higher. Same goes with the video. The third camera on the back is a 3D stereo time-of-flight camera (ToF) which will let you add 3D animated stickers in the camera menu. It is not that purposeful as well. Indoor photos lack harmony in color and environment if you compare with the flagship Google Pixel cameras. There is auto beautification in portrait mode which can’t be turned off. Similarly, Front camera selfies soften the skin tone through AI which makes a human face a bit artificial looking. We find it a big downside. However, the Ultra Night Mode is pretty admirable. Night photos are well-detailed with great color-balance.
Oppo R17 Pro has up to the mark sound quality, USB Type-C, fast face unlock, OTG and 128 GB internal storage capacity, but no FM Radio, no LED notification light in the front and no 3.5mm jack. There is a USB-C to 3.5mm jack adapter included in the box. Overall, better night shots, impressive fast charging, stunning design. But some lacks in software quality, camera quality and performance considering the price factor.
